Boomerang Talks

Boomerang Talks is an initiative set up by myself and colleague Mafalda Haugsand for the Boomerang community and beyond. With this series we hope to merge learning and entertainment in order to make discussion around important topics accessible to all. We talk about societal issues covering topics like the environment, diversity and humanitarian issues around fake media, covered in our first ever talk called ‘The Truth About Lies’ with humanitarian media expert Sam Gregory of Witness.org. You can see our latest edition here on mental health and workism called: “Is Work The New Religion?”, where we speak with entrepreneurs, happiness experts and even a Buddhist monk!

Check out our live-streamed talk above: Is Work the New Religion?

In this online edition of 'Boomerang Talks', our host Mafalda is trying to answer the question: Is work the new religion? Work, in many ways, is replacing the role religion and spirituality have traditionally played in our lives. Today, it’s not religion or spirituality that gives us purpose, it’s our work. This paradigm shift has caused us to stress out and burn-out more than ever. We're exploring the future of work, together with guest speakers buddhist monk Ven. Losang Gendun; award-winning technology & diversity advocate TeLisa Daughtry; and ‘Strategic Happiness Expert’ Robin van der Meulen (2DAYSMOOD). Mafalda questions them about productivity, purpose and the future of work. Join the conversation!
